Read Luke 20:20-26: So the religious leaders did not like that Jesus was proclaiming to be the Son of God. So they tried to trick him to get him arrested. They asked him if God's people should pay taxes to the Emperor Caesar. Jesus' answer was brilliant. He said "Who's image is on our coins?". They replied "Caesar". Jesus then said "Give to Caesar's what is Caesar's, give to God what is God's". The religious leaers were astonished and left disappointed because they couldn't catch Jesus.
Say: The coins had the image of Caesar on them. So Jesus said give to Caesar what is Caesar's, give to God what is God's. What belongs to God, another way to ask this question- what has God's image on it?
In Genesis 1:26-27, God makes man in his image. This means we are made in God's image. We belong to God.
Act: We are going to take a washable marker and write on the back of one of our hands "Belongs to God" as a reminder for the rest of the day that we are God's property. This will remind us to live and love in a way God wants us to.
Pray: God, thank you for making us in your image. Help us to remember we belong to you. Amen.

Read Luke 20:20-26: Keeping a close watch on him, they teachers of the Law sent spies, who pretended to be sincere. They hoped to catch Jesus in something he said, so that they might hand him over to the power and authority of the governor. So the spies questioned him: “Teacher, we know that you speak and teach what is right, and that you do not show partiality but teach the way of God in accordance with the truth. Is it right for us to pay taxes to Caesar or not?” He saw through their duplicity and said to them, 24 “Show me a denarius. Whose image and inscription are on it?” “Caesar’s,” they replied. He said to them, “Then give back to Caesar what is Caesar’s, and to God what is God’s.” They were unable to trap him in what he had said there in public. And astonished by his answer, they became silent.
