*Rather than watch the video and read the covered passage we are going to talk about how to treat others when they make us mad.
In Matthew 5:22 Jesus says it is bad to say or do mean things to others.
Say: Sometimes people do things that make us mad. But God wants us to show them love.
We are going to make a show. Lets pretend like these two stuffed animals want to play with the same toy.
Role play: Animal X- I want to play with that ______.
Animal Y- I had it first.
Animal X- But its my toy.
Animal Y- But you put it down.
Animal X- Okay. I LOVE you so I will play with it after.
Animal Y- I LOVE you too so lets share it!
*Anytime your children fight over something- remind them to choose LOVE over the _______ they are fighting over.
Pray: Jesus, please help ________ to show love instead of anger when someone makes them mad. Amen.

Elementary
Read Genesis 4:8-11: Now Cain said to his brother Abel, "Let's go out to the field." And while they were in the field, Cain attacked his brother Abel and killed him.
The the Lord said to Cain, "Where is your brother Abel?"
"I don't know," he replied. "Am I my brother's keeper?"
The Lord said, "What have you done? Listen! Your brother's blood cries out to me from the ground. Now you are under a curse and driven from the ground, which opened its mouth to receive your brother's blood from your hand."
Say: God cares about the sanctity of life. He never intended people to kill each other. We were created in his image and likeness to bear life. Not to destroy it. When people die it causes a lot of pain in our world. Thankfully when Jesus comes back- death will be no more.
Jesus reminds us in his Sermon on the Mount in Matthew 5 that murder is bad. But Jesus takes this commandment a step further: he says calling other people names is also sin. As followers of Christ we are not supposed to speak hateful things to others.
Everyone breaks this commandment whether with their mouthes or their minds. *Confess a time you committed this sin recently.
Q: Why is hard to not say bad things about others?
Q: How can we show love when others make us mad?
Have your child pray: Jesus, help me to live a life that preserves life. Help me to speak kindness instead of meanness. Amen.

God values about the sanctity of life. He never intended people to kill each other. In fact we were created in his image and likeness to bear life. Not to destroy it. We should feel uneasy when people are killed for any reason because they are God's creation. Thankfully when Jesus comes back- death will be no more.
How can you live in a way that preserves rather than destroys life?
Jesus takes the commandment "thou shalt not kill" and says it is a sin to call a brother or sister "a fool". Why is calling someone a fool so bad?
How often do you call people names (whether to them, behind them or in your mind)?
How can you break this habit?
Spend time confessing to Jesus the ways you have hurt others. Also repent of the times you thought bad things about them. Listen and he may reveal people you are overlooking. He might also give you strength to show grace to them.

Who gets under your skin the most?
Pray: Spend time asking God to help you perceive that person in the same way Jesus perceives them. Listen and he might reveal to you others you have hurt.
Act: Call someone that you have hurt- intentionally or unintentionally. Say Sorry.
