Q: Can you think of a time you were scared?
Q: How can you trust in God in scary situations?
Noah had to wait more than 40 days to get off the ark. He had to put his trust in God that he was going to be rescued.
Q: Does God ever make you wait? (tell a story about a time God took awhile to answer a prayer)
Have your child pray: Lord, thank you for for being a God who rescues your child. Help me to be patient in the times I need your rescue. Amen.

Developing Disciple

Read Genesis 8:15-17:Then God said to Noah,“Come out of the ark, you and your wife and your sons and their wives. Bring out every kind of living creature that is with you—the birds, the animals, and all the creatures that move along the ground—so they can multiply on the earth and be fruitful and increase in number on it.”
God rescued Noah, his family and the animals from the flood. But they had to wait more than 40 days for this rescue to be complete. It took a lot of patience.
Q: Has there ever been a time you've had to wait for God to rescue you?
Q: Why is it so hard to wait on God?
In the end God brought Noah to dry land. He commanded him to "be fruitful and multiply." The flood cleansed the earth of wickedness. Now there was a new beginning. Sometimes God uses tragedies and hard times to bring about new beginnings.
Q: Have you ever seen him do this?
God brought Noah through the flood in order to bring his creation back to its original purpose- to be signs of his glory.
Q: How can you reflect God's glory in hard times?
Q: Do you know anyone who does a good job at this?
Pray that God uses the hard times to bring about "new beginnings" in your life. Ask him to help you be a "sign of his glory". Spend time listening for his answers.
