Pre K

*You will need construction paper and coloring pastels or a sidewalk and colored chalk.

Read Genesis 9:11-15a: "I promise to never send such a great flood again." And God said, “This is the sign of the covenant I am making between me and you and every animal with you, a covenant for all generations to come: I have set my rainbow in the clouds as a sign of the promise between me and the earth. Whenever I bring clouds over the earth and the rainbow appears in the clouds, I will remember my promise.

Say: God keeps his promises. When he says he is going to do something-he does it. The rainbow is a sign of God's promise to Noah. The rainbow is a reminder of God's love for us. You can't find a beginning or an end to rainbow. Like a rainbow, God's promises never end.

Act: Lets draw a rainbow to remember that that God keeps his promises forever.

Pray: God, thank you for rescuing your creation. Thank you for being a God who keeps his promises. Amen.

Developing Disciple

Read Genesis 9:11-15a: I establish my covenant with you: Never again will all life be destroyed by the waters of a flood; never again will there be a flood to destroy the earth.” And God said, “This is the sign of the covenant I am making between me and you and every living creature with you, a covenant for all generations to come: I have set my rainbow in the clouds, and it will be the sign of the covenant between me and the earth. Whenever I bring clouds over the earth and the rainbow appears in the clouds, I will remember my covenant between me and you and all living creatures of every kind."

God makes a covenant with Noah and the rest of creation. A covenant is a contractual relationship between two parties. It is normally goes both ways. But God is being gracious to his creation. He offers a promise that only he can uphold. He knows humanity will sin against him. Yet he promises to hold back his wrath.

Why is God making this promise?

What can humanity give him in return that would equal his gift? Nothing.

Any gift we offer falls short. Our God is a God who makes promises that only he can keep. And he keeps them!God promised to send his son Jesus to rescue a sinful world and...he does. It is another promise that we do not deserve. Yet our God shows grace.

Take time in prayer remembering how our God has shown you grace. Kneel before his majesty and thank him.

Act: Write out your salvation story and how you were rescued from sin. Write it as a personal letter to someone you care about.
