Genesis 15:4

Pre K

*You will need two old white socks.

Write God on one sock and your child's name on the other. Also research how to tie a "square knot".

Read Genesis 15:4-5: Then the word of the Lord came to him: “This man will not be your heir, but a son who is your own flesh and blood will be your heir.”  He took him outside and said, “Look up at the sky and count the stars—if indeed you can count them.” Then he said to him, “So shall your offspring be.”

Say: If you remember from last week, our God is a God who keeps his promises. In Jesus we are with God forever. God will never break this promise.

Act: These socks are like you and God. You are over here and he is right next to you. But in Jesus we are tied to him forever. Nothing can break us apart. Try to pull them apart. See you can't. The know just gets tighter. In the same way, nothing can pull us away from God once we are his.

Pray: God, thank you for keeping you promises. Help us to remember that nothing will ever break us apart. Amen.

*You will need a white thread, gray thread, red thread and green thread.

He promises to one day come a rescue the world. In Jesus we are with God forever. God will never break this promise. Abraham thought that God wouldn't keep his promise because he didn't have a son.

Q: What has God promised you?

Q: Can you think of anything that could keep God from keeping his promise?

Act: The white thread represents God. He is holy and pure. The gray thread represent us. We were once pure and became dirty by sin. That which is holy and unholy can not be connected. But in Jesus we are tied to him forever. Jesus is the red thread. Jesus' blood washes away our sins. The red thread wraps these two thread together. Jesus connects us to God. Nothing can break us apart. In fact one day we will live with him in his kingdom. The green thread is the Holy Spirit. Green is for fruit. In the Holy Spirit we bear God's fruit. The Holy Spirit helps us to live like God wants us to. We make a bracelet with these. Then tie them off with a square knot. A square knot is unbreakable. God's promises are unbreakable.

Pray: God, thank you for keeping you promises. Help us to remember that nothing will ever break us apart. Amen.
