*On a sheet of paper you will need to draw "a road for crossing" and get some figurines.
Read Genesis 16:1- Now Sarai, Abram's wife couldn't have children. So she decided to take things into her hands rather than listen to God.
Say: Sometimes we don't like to wait. We want to do things our way on our time. But there are times when we are called to wait and listen. One example would be crossing the road. When you get to a road, the first thing you do is WAIT for mommy or daddy. You can't cross without us. No matter what you have to wait for us. When we are there and ready- then you can cross the road.
Act: Lets act this out with this road and these figurines.
Say: Sometimes God tells us to wait and we have to trust him. We have to wait for him.
Pray: God, help ______ to be patient and trust in you. Amen.

Developing Disciple
Genesis 16:1-2: Sarai, Abram’s wife, had borne him no children. But she had an Egyptian slave named Hagar; so she said to Abram, “The Lord has kept me from having children. Go, sleep with my slave; perhaps I can build a family through her.”
There are times in our lives when God calls us to wait. It is hard to wait. Sometimes we try to take things into our own hands. We try to make "things happen" rather than waiting for God to make them happen. Sometimes we choose bad things over waiting for God's great things. Sometimes we choose the world's good things (things that are not inherently bad) rather than waiting for the great things of God (the things you know he has called you to). When we choose these good things we miss out on the great things of God has in store for us.
What are the "good things" that tempt you to not to wait for God? ( Relationships? A job? A material good that you want but you feel like God is telling you to wait).
Why is it so hard to wait for the "great things" that God has planned for us later? The "great things" often involve more work and patience. They do not come easier and the road to them is longer and more narrow.
Pray and ask God to reveal the "great things" he has in store for you. Repent of the times you have been impatient like Sarai.
